The problem
Food truck owners gamble on festivals and pop-ups that promise big crowds but often pay almost nothing once fees, splits, labor, and travel are counted, leaving a $300-style net on a brutal 70–80 hour weekend (reported on r/foodtrucks and local news). Organizers advertise attendance numbers but rarely share vendor-level sales, so owners pay deposits to people using Gmail addresses and sometimes get scammed (local news reports including KDVR and KWWL). Trucks already track per-event rage and learn the hard way that a $3,000 top line can turn into a $300 net after a 20–25% split and long hours (PitStop and RunPitStop operator data). This is an urgent problem because scams and tighter festival economics are increasing, POS adoption and event postings mean we can crowdsource benchmarks now (PitStop, VendBook).
