The problem
Infra engineers self-hosting vLLM/TGI/Triton clusters hit a hard failure when a traffic spike routes to a cold 70B and weights are still loading. That single incident can cost $500–$2,000 in refunds or SLA penalties plus hours of incident war-room time per incident. Existing autoscalers, vLLM/TGI and Prometheus/Grafana dashboards act after the fact or only show utilization, so nobody knows which route was cold or can replay the exact inference that failed.
