The problem
A small art seller just wants to mail a print and get paid. Then the shipping rules change, the cheap flat envelope may not cover the new fees, and the safer option may cost enough to scare the buyer away. Etsy says most packages sent to the United States face import charges after the August 2025 rule change, and NBC News reported one British Etsy artist turned off United States orders after her Etsy revenue fell about 70% year over year in one week. Postal sites, marketplace labels, and big shipping tools all tell part of the story, but they do not make the simple call: which service keeps the buyer from getting a bill and keeps the print flat. Why now: Etsy’s June 2026 rule update, reported by Value Added Resource, says non-United States sellers must use fees-paid-upfront shipping for United States orders or lose purchase protection.
